Unit Description

The module “Physics” provides a brief introduction to the physical background related to SAR imaging. First, the distribution of signal wavelengths along the electromagnetic spectrum is shown in a viewgraph. Based on that, the radar signal is characterized and the physical model of the interaction signal – object is indicated. Finally, basic knowledge on the radar antenna is given (sensitivity diagram, concept of phased array).
