The module “Probability Theory” provides the mathematical basics for understanding the methods of estimation theory. After defining the term “probability”, the Bayes’ Theorem is introduced as a powerful workhorse for estimation. Furthermore, different types of Probability Distribution Functions (PDFs) are presented. Based on that, the PDFs for the radar amplitude and phase are defined.
