The module “Introduction to Estimation Theory” provides basic definitions in estimation theory. Moreover, demonstrative examples are given in the context of remote sensing, e.g. ship detection, deformation estimation, and remote sensing of the atmosphere. In this context, the idea of deriving unknowns by the inversion of remote sensing observations is presented.
