In the mid twenty teens I was at a UAV demonstration from a local survey company that was using hyperspectral surveys for agricultural surveys. It occurred to me that as this technology advances, it will become possible for SAR aircraft to locate distressed persons on land or at sea by detecting the nylon or polyester of clothing or marine lifesaving equipment and geolocating it in real-time. I pursue that goal at every opportunity.
