Remote Sensing – The Basics
Content of this lesson
In this first lesson you will get to know the basic principles that are the foundation of the analysis of the earth’s surface using earth observation data sets and methods. While some of the processes described in this course may seem difficult at times, they all relate to the basic knowledge provided in this first lesson.
This lesson will cover the fundamentals of light and color, describe the interaction of electromagnetic waves with objects on our planet’s surface and explain why some elements absorb or reflect certain types of radiation. Let’s get started!
- Understanding the remote sensing principle
- Distinguishing electromagnetic waves and their characteristics
- Following the possible paths of light
- Understanding of the role of the Earth’s atmosphere
