The Data, Processing Tools and Region of Interest
Let’s start by reviewing the data sets, the processing software or platform, and the region covered in the hands-on tutorial.
Data sets
EO data | Data Characteristics |
Harmonized Sentinel-2 MSI: Level-2A Provider: EuropeanUnion/ESA/Copernicus on Google Earth Engine | – 10 meters resolution – 5 days revisit 13 spectral bands – Bottom-of-Atmosphere (BOA) reflectance (atmospherically corrected) |
Processing Software/Platform
- The main processing steps in this tutorial will be carried out in Google Earth Engine.
Go to code.earthengine.goole.com to get started using Earth Engine.
You will find the here the Earth Engine Code Editor Guide
Region of Interest
The region of interest for this tutorial is Pyramid Lake, Nevada, USA, a terminal lake in the Great Basin that is highly sensitive to changes in nutrient levels and water quality. Regular monitoring of the lake offers valuable insights into its trophic status and potential algal blooms. Satellite imagery and remote sensing tools have been extensively used in studies to estimate chlorophyll concentrations in the lake.
